My Testimony
Growing up, I had heard of Jesus and God but never really knew Him. My grandma has been an active believer for decades, and I have pastors in my family, and every time someone would ask me, whether that would be a friend, a family member, or even a retired nun that I used to work with—that would always be my response. It wasn’t until five years ago, during COVID that I would be able to say that I was Christian because I knew him and not someone else.
Verse
Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
John 17:3
Nearly five years to the date, I was out in the world, enjoying my last spring break with friends in Florida. When I came back from the trip, the U.S. was put in lockdown and it seemed like everything that I had filled my time up with before from work, school, partying, etc. was now on an indefinite pause. I feel like God really used that time to step in and to show me who he was through his word and Bible studies with my best friend. Up until that point, I had never even opened up a Bible and read the first page and the only time I prayed was to pass a chemistry test.
It took me a while to find a church home, but one day I was watching a sermon on Youtube and found out that the church was located only a half hour away from me in Ashburn. I visited that following Sunday, attended a step one class and then signed up for a few serving opportunities at Heritage. I now serve in media, and get to conduct the same livestream that I watched almost a year ago.
I’m grateful for all that God has done for me and for the miracles and blessings he continues to work, and happy to put my faith in him when trials come instead of other vices.
